Restoration works at Pier 2/3 and Wharf 4/5

Arts NSW is carrying out essential maintenance on Pier2/3 and Wharf 4/5 to protect and ensure the structural integrity of the supporting structures and buildings on this important State heritage asset.

The work will include repairing, restoring and replacing parts of the supporting structures below Pier 2/3 and Wharf 4/5.

The work will take about seven months to complete, weather permitting.

How this will affect you

These works may create additional noise on some weekdays and weekends.

Our work hours will be:

  • 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

We will try to minimise noise where possible by turning off all equipment when not in use, providing periods of respite between noisy activities and monitoring noise levels to ensure they don’t exceed allowances.

Planning approvals

The restoration and maintenance works are considered “development without consent” under the State Infrastructure Planning Policy (Infrastructure) 2007 and a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) has been assessed under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 by the Department of Justice. The REF details the potential impacts of the works and how they will be mitigated. A copy of the REF is available to view here.
